**Job Description: Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP)**:
Spire Healthcare Ltd is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP) to join our team at Spire Harpenden Hospital, located in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, London, UK. This is a temporary position with a start date of 20/02/2024 and an end date of 20/02/2024.

As a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of orthopaedic surgeries. Your primary responsibility will be to support the surgical team by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, assisting with surgical procedures, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout their surgical journey.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare the operating room and equipment for major orthopaedic surgeries, ensuring the sterile environment is maintained at all times.
- Assist the surgical team and surgeon during procedures, passing instruments and supplies as required.
- Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, providing support and reassurance throughout the surgical process.
- Administer medications and fluids as directed by the surgical team, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to protocols.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including anaesthetists and theatre nurses, to provide coordinated and high-quality patient care.
- Ensure the safe handling and disposal of medical waste and sharps, following strict infection control protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, patient charts, and inventory of surgical supplies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of orthopaedic surgery.

**Requirements**:

- Prior experience as a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP) in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
- Excellent knowledge of orthopaedic surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

**Working Hours and Compensation**:
This temporary position as a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP) will require you to work from 07:30:00 to 21:30:00 on the specified dates. The rate of payment for each shift will be £502.80.
