**Activities and Responsibilities of the Post**

**Principle Purpose of the role**

Applications are invited for the above post in Initial Training at PHQ Martlesham.

The successful applicant will design, deliver and implement a range of creative and innovative operational learning initiatives for student police officers and potentially police staff.

**Main Activities of the Role**
- Design, facilitate and deliver innovative, inclusive, inspirational training, utilising the 70/20/10 training delivery model aligned to organisational strategy, to ensure an increase in operational performance and capability in Professional Policing and Business Support Skills
- Contribute to the Constabulary’s defined programmes of Student Officer, Detective, Police Officer, Police Staff and Special Constabulary intakes to ensure that they meet organisational needs and objectives through coaching, monitoring and evaluation
- Contribute to a programme of refresher training interventions for existing officers to equip them with the required skills, knowledge and aptitudes to meet the needs of the organisation, as well as current legal and statutory guidelines
- Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management

**Person Specification**

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

- Demonstrate relevant experience in a learning or teaching environment
- Experience in the design and evaluation of learning interventions
- Knowledge and understanding of the operation of the Police service and related regulations
- Effective coaching and presenting skills
- Planning and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, effectively managing completing priorities with available resources
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to work with partners and stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Able to travel and work within Norfolk and Suffolk and further afield if necessary

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

- Student Officer Training or support
- Special Constabulary Training and/or support
- Police Entry Qualification Framework
- First Aid
- ICT Training/Delivery
- Understand Force Policy, legislation, powers and procedure to develop students’ capability around effective digital police investigations

Hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm (day shifts). This post is offered on a temporary basis (6 month contract).

**Special conditions / Points to note**
- The purpose of this job description is to indicate the general level of the duties and responsibility of the role, the duties may from time to time vary without changing the general character of the role or the levels of responsibilities
- Whilst the role is normally based at the aforementioned location, you may be required to work at other establishments across both Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such instances
- All duties must be carried out in accordance with relevant Health and Safety legislation and good practice. A ‘No Smoking in the Work Place’ policy applies
- All duties must be carried out in a manner that supports the Constabulary’s commitment to equality and inclusion
- This post may require some weekend working to deliver the IL4SC programme
