Working as one of our ‘Major Trauma Service TARN Administrators’ the post holder will be responsible for the completion of TARN (Trauma Audit & Research Network) data submissions into the TARN database.

Using a variety of different data sources, you must be able to interpret and extract the necessary information from patient records in order to complete accurate and robust TARN data submissions.

You will ensure data is collected in line with information governance rules and the national TARN data requirements. You will also support the clinical teams in the identification of TARN eligible patients and in the extraction and analysis of TARN data reports. Working closely with key contacts across the Trust and external organisations the post holder will also support service developments and the interpretation of TARN data.

You must demonstrate excellent organisational and analytical skills, be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative, and consistently promote high standards and integrity. You must always act in a professional manner in maintaining the reputation of the Major Trauma Service and Trust.

The Major Trauma Service at the Royal Preston Hospital provides critical life and limb saving treatment for patients who have sustained serious traumatic injuries.

As the regional Major Trauma Centre we operate within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Major Trauma Network and work collaboratively to ensure our patients receive the best possible care and outcome.

Identification of patients who meet the TARN injury eligibility criteria.

Complete TARN submissions that meet the TARN data quality requirements, within the 25 day timeframe.

Creation of TARN reports and data extraction.

Participate in the continuous improvement of the Major Trauma Service.

Provide administrative support.
