**About you **

As the Assistant Retail Buyer, you will be working closely with the buyer, supporting them in maximising the profitability of retail at Longleat, through the development of product ranges and maintaining stock levels. You will have a good understanding of a retail environment with a passion for products and an appreciation of innovation and creativity.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Product**
- Responsible for identifying & sourcing an optimum range of products for selected categories in line with the retail strategy, budgets, quality & price requirements.
- Assist the buyer in managing established ranges and developing new collections to maximise sales and profitability.
- Place orders to maintain optimum stock levels of established ranges including stock forecasting.
- Maintain the integrity of EPOS data - inventory management.
- Understand quality and safety standards to ensure all products are compliant.
- Attend trade shows and collaborate with the buyer on new product ideas and ranges.

**Supplier relationships**
- Negotiate and agree terms and conditions with new and existing suppliers to continuously improve cost price, lead times and quality and achieve margin targets.
- Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and help to source new suppliers for future products.
- Report any significant supply problems to ensure the Buyer & Head of Dept are kept aware of any potential difficulties.

**What will I need to be considered for this vacancy?**
- You will be ideally educated to a degree level or equivalent.
- You will have a background of purchasing within a retail fast paced environment.
- You will have a proven understanding of the sales environment and appropriate gift ranges for a seasonal, brand specific leisure attraction.
- A background in managing stock levels.
- You are currently working within a buying team looking to make a step up in your career.
- You are an established assistant buyer.
- You have exceptional organisational skills and therefore able to multitask and handle multiple tasks simultaneously to a high standard.

**What will I receive in return?**

As an Assistant Retail Buyer, you will receive a salary of between £22,500 and £26,250 depending on experience in addition to a range of attractive benefits that include;

You’ll be employed on a permanent basis, working 37.5 hours a week, predominantly Monday to Friday 9am - 5.30pm but with flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays as required.
