Manchester, United Kingdom The University of Manchester Full time

Applicants are invited for the post of Bioinformatician to work in the laboratories of Prof. Graham Lord and Prof. Mark Travis at the University of Manchester. The post funds a position as part of a collaborative project, funded by the Helmsley Trust, to identify how novel treatments for Crohn’s Disease act in humans. Specifically, patient samples from individuals before and after receiving regulatory T cells, a special type of suppressive immune cell, will be analysed using extensive multiomic techniques (both single cell and spatial technologies) to determine Treg-mediated effects, and how this correlates with clinical outcome in the patient.

The main role of the successful applicant will be to drive the analysis and integration of data from extensive multiomic experiments, performed on samples from patients receiving regulatory T cells. The appointee will also become an embedded member of the Faculty’s Bioinformatics Hub, which provides a highly distinctive, collaborative environment for cutting-edge development of custom tools and analysis pipelines.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, and experience in high-throughput multiomic data analysis and integration methods. They should also have good data curation skills, and good communication skills.

As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
