We have an exciting opportunity for a Dental Decontamination Operative to work at our busy practice in Bedale, North Yorkshire.

The successful applicant will have a warm, friendly manner and will enjoy working as part of a team and must be eligible to work in the UK.

*Main functions of the role:*
- Support the dentist and other dental professionals in meeting cross infection control standards.
- Help maintain the safety of the patient
- Carry out these functions in accordance with current standards for cross infection control.
- To maintain skills at the current level and undertake such training and development as may from time to time be required to maintain personal competency.
- (Participate in all activities required by registration.)

*Main Duties:*
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all other employees and contractors at the practice.
- Support and uphold an open, positive and honest working culture.
- Work with dentist or other Dental Care Professionals in ensuring patient safety
- Work with the practice information recording systems in keeping records of decontamination procedures
- Tidy and clean the decontamination area in line with current cross infection control standards
- Ensure safe handling of dirty instruments in the area for sterilisation
- Carry out cleaning and sterilisation in line with current standards and procedures
- Safely store clean and decontaminated instruments
- Report all significant events , including near misses for inclusion in the practice Risk Register
- Practice the highest standards of confidentiality when dealing with all aspects of patient information
- Participate in activities required to assess compliance with essential standards
- Implement and maintain the standards required by legislation related to the registration of the practice
- Participate in the safe disposal of sharps
- Report to the practice manager any faults or safety worries with equipment and the premises
- Assist management with maintaining compliance with agreed standards
- Undergo further training as required by the practice
- Participate in assessing the effectiveness of oral health care by the practice, including audit of clinical procedures
- Promote and participate in the highest levels of clinical care within the practice

16 hours per week

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
