Managing the Maintenance and Health and Safety Team, you will have the opportunity to ensure that the Council has a safe and performing estate and shape the forward direction and influence projects to impact positively on the Property Function and its long-term strategic plan.

Your team is responsible for maintenance plans, developing the repairs and maintenance programme, procuring and managing minor capital and R&M projects and providing a specialist technical role on major projects.

**What will you be doing**
- Leading the Maintenance and Health & Safety Team, you will have responsibility for a multi-disciplinary team of 13, with 3 direct reports made up of building surveyors, mechanical and electrical engineers, and facilities staff.
- You will ensure that the Council has a safe and well performing estate and that the council’s responsibilities are met in terms of developing and delivering maintenance plans and programmes, as well as providing specialist technical advice on major projects and to Capital project teams.
- Leading a rolling R&M programme, you will ensure that this is delivered and achieving value for money by working together with key stakeholders to ensure client expectations are met and managed.
- Working with the property and development team and finance functions, you will effectively prioritise maintenance activity in line with the Council’s overall priorities, available budgets and longer-term plans for the use of assets. You will be also hold responsibility for a £1.5m budget.
- You will deliver a regular programme of building surveys to ensure that maintenance condition and the cost or urgency of building repairs is understood and can be managed effectively at a strategic level.
- In the role you will manage and co-ordinate the delivery of accommodation management and facilities management of the council’s estate, making sure that buildings are statutory compliant in accordance with relevant legislation and good practise.

**What we need from you**:

- We require you to have Senior leadership experience, managing a multi-disciplinary team focusing on delivery and performance and be confident to persuade, lead and plan a service.
- It is essential that you hold expert knowledge in the management of maintenance and statutory compliance in relation to the built environment and specific technical expertise, in order to solve technical issues.
- You must have knowledge of external issues (legislative, regulatory, best practice standards etc.) that affect and impact Facilities Management.
- It is key that you are strategically focused and have the experience to lead, manage and develop a team and to be accountable whilst coaching and developing in a positive way.
- It is essential that you can manage projects with considerable financial and commercial acumen and have experience of managing large budgets.
- You must have experience of developing and maintaining complex partnerships and able to influence stakeholders and build relationships at a senior and management level.
- Ideally, you will have experience of operating and achieving SO550001, or have been part of a project team that achieved a benefit and impact in using this system effectively.
