**Team/Function Overview**:
Citi’s Legal Department in Belfast is a team of approximately 130 staff, covering a range of products and services across Citi’s Europe Middle East and Africa region (known as “EMEA”).

The Legal Department provides a range of services, support and advice to many business areas with a particular focus on Citi’s Institutional Client Group; incorporating transaction negotiation, master agreement negotiation, and oversight of compliance and regulatory requirements.

An opportunity has arisen within the Markets Legal Department for a prominent negotiator role supporting the Prime and FCX client base within Citi’s Institutional Client Group.

**Role / Position Overview**:
The position will involve a number of responsibilities including but not limited to:

- Understand and learn the documentation requirements for different products.
- Negotiating/reviewing legal agreements with internal/external customers to reach agreement on the contents of Citi’s legal documentation, through telephonic or electronic negotiation and client meetings (where required).
- Close liaison with internal businesses/Product Legal in connection with the negotiation of legal agreements in the relevant business area. Convey commercial awareness and understanding of the business priorities by ensuring prioritisation of file load.
- Interpret key commercial concepts from an array of trading agreements (including ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, Termination Agreements, Account Control Agreements, FX/PB Agreements, Futures & other Exchange Traded Derivatives Agreements, the ISDA / FOA Client Cleared OTC Derivatives Addendum, ISDA Master Agreements (and relevant collateral documents), Electronic trading agreements and ancillary documentation and incorporate into EMEA specific documentation, accounting for the necessary regulatory and/or jurisdictional changes where required.
- Have an understanding of how associated risks differ depending on product and documentation envisaged in relevant jurisdiction(s).
- Understand impact of applicable regulations on the business area and ensure that agreements meet with such regulatory requirements.

**Development Value**:

- Comprehensive training on Citi’s businesses and policies will be provided to those transitioning to Citi with transferable skills gained in private practice or in a previous in-house role.
- The position will require an awareness of the impact of core regulation on the derivatives markets and underlying documentation.

**Knowledge/Experience**:

- Experience of working in a legal / financial service organisation preferable.

**Skills**:

- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of PC operating systems, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written & verbal) at all organisational levels with internal business partners and external customers.
- Ability to effectively organise own workload meeting key milestones
- Good attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
- Ability to provide continuous feedback and to regularly follow up on all outstanding issues.
