Based at the Service Training Centre, Washington Hall, Euxton, the role of Trainer Support is to provide the Training Centre with a wide range of backup services related to the provision and delivery of training courses and will also involve working inside and outside in all weather conditions.

As the Trainer Support, you will be primarily responsible for preparing scenarios both in and round the fire grounds, setting carbonaceous fires, allocating and carrying out routine checks on resources and equipment and undertaking a range of maintenance tasks to ensure the fire ground and training props are fit for use.

A good level of fitness is required to undertake some of the physical demands of the role such as working at height (max 20m), in confined spaces and running out hose of 25m length, being able to lift heavy equipment and casualty dummies.

Trainer support staff are expected to have a good level of English and Maths. This is important to be able to understand and interpret safety critical information and to undertake core elements of the role such as stores ordering, testing equipment and maintaining the relevant records.
- Confined space assessment including wearing a Breathing Apparatus face mask
- Ladder lift
- Casualty Drag
- Moving items of equipment approximately 25 metres
- Dictation test
- Verbal assessment testing ability to pass a message clearly and concisely.

In order to build positive relationships with students and colleagues you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively meet the needs of the wider team. The ability to maintain records, both manual and electronic, is essential, along with being able to work independently to achieve scheduled tasks, in order to meet training centre demands.

Whilst a category ‘B’ driving licence is essential, a desirable criteria element attached to the role is LGV & Fork lift truck licences. The successful applicant will be expected to gain these qualifications post appointment and this will be supported by the Service and therefore there must be a willingness to work towards gaining these qualifications and a commitment to do so.
