Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for the planning, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of education to healthcare staff working within the trust and the local healthcare community, with the ultimate aim of ensuring high quality patient care delivery. The educator will be expected to maintain their clinical skills and deliver patient care to a high standard with indirect supervision of a registered nurse. Education will include: inductions, mandatory training, clinical skills, human factors, equipment training and supported working in the clinical area and will be delivered using a wide range of different teaching methods e.g. didactic teaching, skills stations, small group discussions, simulation, shop floor teaching etc. The individual will assist in educational projects related to their role, including cannulation, venepuncture, observation and ECG training and assessment. They will be required to educate different members of the multidisciplinary team. The focus of this role will be to support delivery of our commercial portfolio to provide deliver of clinical skills courses delivering high standard education to external students.

The post holder will be required to work the occasional weekend or evening depending on training need.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Plan, deliver and evaluate inter-professional training and education to staff within external Healthcare Providers and Community Groups and occasionally support education of staff working within Emergency Department, Medicine Division, R&I.

Provide clinical area support and supervision for staff/learners undergoing specific training, or who have specific learning needs, assisting in their development of clinical competence, in accordance with the agreed policies and procedures of the Trust.

Training & Qualification

Essential criteria
- Good basic level of secondary school education (GCSE or equivalent)
- NVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care and/ or equivalent level experience in an emergency department
- Evidence of continued personal development in previous employment

Desirable criteria
- Teaching qualification
- ECDL

Experience

Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a healthcare role within an acute care setting Has experience and is clinically competent in performing observations, ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation

Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within an Emergency Department
- Evidence of having contributed towards the design and delivery of clinical/theoretical teaching programmes in the Emergency Department/Acute care setting

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
- Capable of using medical equipment following training
- Able to undertake patient manual handling manoeuvres and non-patient manual handling manoeuvres

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
