**Purpose of Role**

To ensure the dock preparation and docking operation with regards to delivery and resources, working within project requirements reporting to Project Managers / Projects and Operations Manager are undertaken safely and professionally. Ensuring compliance with Health Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and legislation. Working within budgetary and financial constraints to ensure project delivery against plans and to profit.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Plan and oversee the correct dry-docking layout as per vessel Docking Plan
- Assume control and responsibility for vessels entering the ‘dock head’, liaising with Project Operations Manager, Docking Manager, Ships Crew and Pilot
- Ensure the vessel is positioned correctly whilst ‘pumping down’ of water and until vessel is safely on the blocks and, where applicable, shores in place
- Ensure gangways used are in compliance with all testing required and correctly positioned to ensure safe access to all vessels in dry-dock
- Ensure dry-dock is clear and signed off before flooding of dock
- Responsibility for vessel undocking until clear of the ‘dock head’ and ropes have been let go
- Ensure all work undertaken is suitably and adequately risk assessed
- Determine labour requirements for each task and ensure all staff are correctly qualified
- Identify training needs and implement ongoing training to ensure adequate numbers of trained personnel in all aspects of dock layout and docking/undocking of vessels
- Liaise with Project Managers, Superintendents, Class Surveyors other Managers and Supervisors as required.
- Assist with mooring and unmooring operations within the facility if required.
- Carry out an inspection of the dock prior and after a docking or undocking of a vessel and report to Project/Ship Manager of any damages.

Carry out other duties that may from time to time be reasonably assigned.
