We are seeking to recruit a committed and energetic Play Worker to work in our before, after school and holiday club located in Cherry Tree, Blackburn.

**Days and hours between**:
**Monday to Friday 7.30 - 9.30 and 2.30 - 6.00 term time**

**Flexible shifts over non term time holiday club hours**

You will work as an effective member of the team, delivering fun and creative wrap around care for children between the ages of 4-12 years.

**Job role**:

- Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children.
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained.
- Care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
- To take responsibility for your own professional development and keep abreast of current practice and research.
- To work within all Policies and Procedures, risk assessments and guidelines as laid down by the Company.
- To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately.
- To work as a member of the team, with a flexible approach in meeting the needs of each individual child. Sharing in the responsibility of the children’s welfare and continuing to uphold high standards of care.
- To actively and professionally take part in the planning and preparation of activities to meet children’s individual needs, liaising with parents and ensuring effective communication within the Lodge.
- To reflect on practice and daily routines, tailoring them to meet the individual needs of each child.
- Positive management of children’s behaviour.
- To provide feedback and work in partnership with key parents, carers and schools, building and maintaining relationships that encourage trust and open communication.
- Keeping and monitoring accident, incident and risk assessment records.
- Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment.
- Supervision of meals and mealtimes.
- To contribute to the effective recording and resolution of any complaints or investigations, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- To be aware of the high profile of Cherry Lodge Childcare and refrain from irresponsible behaviour that could impact the Company’s commercial success.
- Ensuring developmental records and observations are kept.
- To develop genuine bonds with the children and support colleagues to sensitively fulfil their responsibilities.
- Offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.
- To communicate effectively, sharing information, participating in meetings, inductions and supervisions.
- To respect and value all colleagues, children and parents, encouraging a positive and diverse working environment.

**Experience**:
Qualifications:

- Experience with children and the ability to understand their needs and development.
- Commitment and reliability.
- To be reliable and punctual to allow the maintaining of ratios at all times.
- Ability to relate to children and to communicate effectively with parents.
- A friendly attitude.

**Salary**: £7.49-£11.50 per hour
