**Job Title: H&S Advisor**
**Location: Alnwick**
**Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (35 hrs per week) but flexible working available**
**Working pattern: Mon-Fri**
My client is looking for an enthusiastic H&S Advisor to work with their teams. They pride themselves in having a safe and compliant work environment, with a strong focus on the health and safety of their staff. They have a variety of work streams to support, including, Clerk of Works, Fencing, Sawmill, Gamekeeping, Gardening, Farms (agricultural and livestock), Forestry, Household, Commercial Property, Housebuilding, Tourism and Support Departments.
This role is to support and encourage a positive health and safety ethos, with a hands on approach, getting to know the teams and working with them. Working closely with HR to promote staff welfare, deliver training, and ensuring we have compliant documentation in place.
**Key responsibilities**:
- To promote and maintain a positive health and safety culture in the workplace.
- Responsible for ensuring that Northumberland Estates comply with current safety legislation and that Northumberland Estates safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.
- Plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventative safety measures.
- To create, review and implement health and safety policies in accordance with the latest legislation and to ensure that these policies are implemented by management and employees.
- Ensure that risk assessments are completed and updated annually for all activities within all areas of Northumberland Estates.
- Maintain and develop internal procedures, ie. COSHH, lone working, etc.
- Ensure all procedures are communicated effectively across Northumberland Estates.
- Carry out health and safety audits to check internal compliance.
- Investigate reports of accidents, determine their causes, and make recommendations for improving recurrence prevention and controls.
- Deliver the H&S section of new starter inductions.
- Arrange training identified during audits or induction and liaise with managers to nominate staff for training courses.
- Ability to deliver internal training courses, eg. manual handling, asbestos awareness, COSHH, risk assessment, would be advantageous
- Undertake the admin work, including distribution of documentation and uploading onto the H&S system managed on SharePoint.
**Experience/Qualifications**
- A minimum of a relevant Level 5 qualification, and a Train the Trainer Certificate would be beneficial
- At least 5 years’ experience of health and safety in a similar environment
- A working knowledge of CDM regulations and associated practices
- A working knowledge of land based activities within a traditional estate
- Good communication, interpersonal skills, and IT skills, with knowledge of SharePoint an advantage
- Clean driving licence, and own vehicle
- Ability to travel to other sites within the UK
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
