We are looking to recruit and enthusiastic person who has a flare for all things crafty
Our purpose built centre has spaces for craft workshops, a drama and theatre space, media room and a recently updated sensory room.
The role will attract the new rate of £11.44. with effect from 1st April. We require 3 days per week ideally Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday or Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Details of the job description:
- Work independently and as part of a team to run workshops
- Recognised qualification or vocational experience in têxtiles and or creative design/craft
- Undertake regular client reviews and assessments
- Ability to use a variety of creative mediums to support the scheduled workshops
- Provide support to clients to engage in activities/workshop sessions
- To work therapeutically to provide support and training for all who work in the Organisation to gain knowledge and to work with empathy, acceptance whilst promoting diversity and equality
- Some flexibility required as there may be the requirement for some occasional weekend working depending on scheduled programmes
**Role Specific Duties**
Work independently and as part of the team to deliver workshops which will include but are not limited to:
Creative Crafts - Painting, sewing, weaving etc, cooking, drama, media, gardening, like skills assisting and supporting preparation of the same from conception to delivery.
Provide support to clients to communicate, engage and express themselves through creative means
Identification of individual needs and adapt activities accordingly
Understand and be confident is using a variety of mediums e.g. têxtiles, paint, Papier-Mache whilst also taking into consideration colour, texture, size etc
Small animal welfare and care
Undertake regular client reviews and assessments
Select and utilise donations
Organisation and display of art work, sculptures, furniture
Upcycle and reuse to create revamped saleable goods
Support in promoting activities, events and exhibitions
Participate in meetings
Adhere to policies and procedures
Some janitorial aspects to the role i.e. keeping workspaces and stock areas clean and tidy
Participate in regular supervisions
Ability to multi-task
Follow all GDPR guidelines, respecting confidentiality and privacy at all times
Training as per training plan developed by the training department
Foster the values of Acorn Village and our Organisational expectations of behaviour and attitude
Be an advocate for and promote the Charity
Any other task deemed appropriate to the role

**Knowledge & Skills**
Recognised qualification pertinent to the role or vocational experience (minimum of 1 year, evidence required)
Innovative and imaginative
General interest in all things craft related i.e. têxtiles, painting, etc
Some understanding of safeguarding
Ability to be able to reflect
A good working knowledge in the use of the suite of Microsoft programmes is preferable
Good organisational skills
You will be flexible and agile in your approach, being able to adapt your approach to different circumstances and service demands
Proactive at all times and able to work on own initiative
Professional and confident with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
You will have the ability to form effective relationships with people at all levels and to communicate well over the telephone, face to face and in writing
Ability to assimilate new information quickly
The centre is located within a 14 acre site of stunning gardens and surroundings.
