Strathmore Estates is the historic estates of the Earls of Strathmore & Kinghorne. Located at Glamis, Angus the estate amounts to 14,500 acres. The estate comprises of the tourist attraction that is Glamis Castle together with let property, in-house farm, forestry, sporting and an in house maintenance team. There are approximately 105 residential houses and a range of commercial and agricultural buildings. In addition there is infrastructure such as roads, bridges and water supplies that require management.
The estate is currently rolling out a new strategy which centres around becoming more proactive in the management of the built infrastructure.
The new role will include the following tasks within its remit:
- Management of the in-house maintenance team. The team currently consists of three tradesman who undertake a broad range of tasks.
- Drive forward house renovations, from minor cosmetic renovations to whole house. This will include working with external consultants where necessary.
- Manage the reactive maintenance programme.
- Develop systems to create a planned maintenance programme. The estate is about to embark on a programme to lifecycle cost its assets.
- Keep up to date and seek to continually improve the property management software.
- Undertake stock condition surveys of properties.
- Manage the cyclical maintenance programme.
- Vetting of external contractors and management of health & safety.
- Ensure legal compliance within the Estates built infrastructure.
- Draft budgets for spend on built infrastructure.
The Building Surveyor will be part of the Estate’s Management Team and will be expected to contribute to the objectives of the wider estate.

**Salary**: £24,101.10-£51,747.37 per year
