Volunteering & Community Assistant

Are you an energetic, warm, and friendly individual who can inspire and engage with both our volunteer team and visitors? As our Volunteering & Community Assistant you'll support the delivery of our volunteering and community plan including recruitment and supporting our team of volunteers to deliver an inclusive experience for our visitors.
We're looking for someone who loves working collaboratively, with excellent organisational skills. In this role, you'll have to engage with people from all over the group, so you need to be a strong communicator.
What it's like to work here:The outstanding art collection is one of the main attractions to this beautiful Italian-inspired mansion. As one of the National Trust’s ‘treasure houses’, the team have exciting times ahead as they embark on major conservation projects to preserve this 8,500 estate and its rare collection of artefacts. A Japanese garden, cafe and Kitchen Garden are also among the key attractions at Kingston Lacy. The property has a rural location with limited public transport, so please check how you would commute before applying.
What you'll be doing:Supporting the smooth daily operation of the House, you'll primarily be looking after our 180 House volunteers. Daily rotas, welfare checks and general problem solving, Keeping up excellent communications and support for our volunteers and providing wider admin support for the property, you'll support in the recruitment of new volunteers and the volunteer journey too. On top of this, you'll help create and deliver training for our volunteers and staff. This could be on using our systems, to tour guide training or team talks (in person versions of our compliance e-learning modules).
Who we're looking forWe’re interested in someone who is well-organised, has good time management skills and is excellent at communicating in a variety of ways. If you enjoy using databases, tracking information, creating spreadsheets and finding ways to streamline and improve processes then this will be ideal for you.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Good IT skills, as you'll be using Microsoft Office, our volunteer database (yourvolunteering) and video-conferencing software (Webex) predominantly
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of good practice in volunteer practices and processes
- Enthusiastic about volunteering and promoting the benefits and opportunities of an inclusive approach
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
