Senior Archivist

**Permanent, Part Time 22.2 hours per week (job share).
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the archives held within the British Empire & Commonwealth Collection. This unique collection documents links between Britain and countries in the British Empire from the late 19th century to recent times. It includes photographs, films, papers and sound archives, as well as museum objects. We are working to make this material available for people worldwide to examine difficult, forgotten or hidden histories from their own perspectives.
Along with your job-share, you will be responsible for leading on the management of the archives, and for delivering community-driven activities. You will develop relationships and support collaborative projects with external partners, piloting new methods of engagement.
We’re looking for a self-starter with demonstrable commitment to exploring the impact of the UK’s colonial history. You will have a qualification in archive administration or be able to show relevant professional experience. Evidence of delivering engagement activities with diverse audiences is a key requirement. Working with a range of stakeholders, including funders, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with complex enquiries on potentially sensitive issues.
