**Senior Civils Consultant**

We offer rail systems solutions across Civils, Permanent Way, OHLE, Signalling and Power Engineering, complemented by design and project management capability. Our assignments cover the earliest project stages of feasibility, concept planning, tender evaluations, through the design, build and implementation process and onto through life engineering support.

SNC-Lavalin Atkins Infrastructure team specialise in buildings, structures and permanent way in a rail environment and are conversant with the particular challenges of delivering complex civils construction schemes in an operational railway context. The typical types of schemes we undertake are station and depot developments both refurbishment and new build, and trackside civil engineering.
- Competently leading and successfully delivering a variety of rail related design and consulting projects - these will be varied in size and nature, ranging from relatively small single source projects to large-scale multi discipline work banks.
- Overseeing Civil & Structural design packages - take discipline lead and support roles in larger projects.
- Supporting the Project Manager in the design and commercial management of projects (where appropriate)
- Ensuring that designs are delivered to programme and that change is accurately reported to the business
- Produce and review designs in accordance with relevant design standards and codes, and to high quality levels
- Prepare briefs, scopes of work and input into bid proposals
- Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes
- Participate in practice leadership and provide guidance/mentoring to more junior members of staff working towards chartership (this could include a role as a DE with the ICE)
- Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions
- Deliver projects to BIM Level 2 requirements

**Required Experience & Skills**:

- Technical experience in Civil & Structural Engineering design principles and processes.
- Design experience in railway infrastructure (specifically depots and stations) and knowledge of Network Rail and/or London Underground processes and standards (Essential). Experience in a Network Rail CRE role (Desirable).
- Professionally Qualified (IEng or CEng, MICE, or equivalent) or approaching Qualification (Desirable).
- Practically minded with a problem-solving nature.
- Able to work independently and in teams.
- Accept responsibility for work carried out.
- Flexible attitude to the type of work undertaken, level of responsibility given and work location.
- Self-motivating, reliable and consistent approach to work is essential.
- Experience working with and negotiating with key project stakeholders including regulatory, statutory and local bodies.
- Proactive, co-operative and helpful attitude to colleagues and clients.
- Form strong relationships with colleagues outside of the business area and with clients.
- Strong communication skills, independent working, presenting and influencing skills.
- Able to reliably manage a team or group.
- Robust experience in change management and QA processes.
- Robust understanding of contracts (principally NEC forms) and their administration.
- Excellent approach to safety in design, including CDM regulations.
- Embrace sustainability in design.
- Digital skills desired but not essential - appetite to learn is key.

- MS Office (including MS Excel) - proficiency
- Bentley Microstation - proficiency
- TEDDS - proficiency
- Structural Analysis software (STADD, Robot, etc)
- Information Management platforms (Projectwise, Aconex, etc.)
