DESCRIPTION: Apprentice Groundworker
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client who is seeking a highly driven individual, who enjoys practical work and the great outdoors.
- To install, maintain and remove site safety barriers, trench defences, safety notices and lighting.
- Locate and excavate to expose buried utility services using cable avoidance techniques.
- Form and reinstate excavations and surfaces to sub-grades, sub-bases and road bases.
- Set out and lay flags, paviours, edging and gravel to the correct standard and legislation.
- To understand the requirements of ducting systems, internal and external drainage.
- Gauging, mixing, placing, compacting and finishing mortars and concrete by hand and by mixer.
- To understand the importance of health & safety and the techniques associated with manual handling.
- Direct and guide the movement of articulated vehicles, plant and machinery.
- To select, use and maintain setting out equipment and power tools.
- Install geo-membranes to stabilise soil re-instatement and excavations.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Able to cope with the physical demands of the job.
- To demonstrate commitment to the role and qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence would be preferable but not essential.
- Achieved a Level 1 in English & Maths, or willingness to attain.
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
- Good interpersonal Skills.
- Enthusiasm and personal drive to succeed.
- The ability to handle pressure when meeting deadlines.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
TRAINING PROVIDED:
- You will achieve a Level 2 Groundwork qualification.

Pay: From £6.40 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
