We are looking for qualified specialist practitioners, who are enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated. Applicants need to be excellent communicators with effective influencing and negotiating skills. You will be working with multi-disciplinary teams across the NHS landscape in order to ensure that appropriate care is provided for patients.

This exciting role will provide high quality, patient focussed care and clinical leadership across the operational teams. This role will also involve collaborative and portfolio working opportunities, across a multitude of urgent and primary care settings, to include: GP surgeries; Urgent Community Response Teams; urgent treatment centres, walk in centres and multidisciplinary working in projects such as Falls and Frailty. The role also includes working within our clinical communications centres and 111 to give clinical advice in connection with calls directly linked to our 999 work.

About Us

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services.

The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Surrey and Sussex.

We serve a population of over 7 million and answer over 500,000 urgent calls a year. We employ 4,551 staff who, together with over 1,100 volunteers, enable us to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Specialist Practitioners (Paramedics) will use their knowledge and skills to independently provide healthcare, focused, to patients with minor illness or injury, long term conditions, and other urgent care needs.

As part of this role, new and exciting opportunities have arisen for rotational and collaborative working partnerships, across the wider health care system; these includeurgent care, primary care and community care settings and internally within our Clinical Communications centres.

The Specialist will be responsible for the care of the patient including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, discharge and/or referral. The specialist will be responsible for administering and supplying medicines, in line with Patient Group Directions/Medicines management policy.

You will be expected to demonstrate evidence of taking personal responsibility for your own professional development, clinical leadership in an operational environment and have a strong desire to support and guide colleagues in other clinical roles.

Applicants should be able to display sound clinical knowledge including evidence of history taking and clinical triage in a sensitive manner, providing assessment, advice and treatment in line with clinical protocols and using professional judgement, and to show that they can work as part of a team or autonomously.
