The Governors are seeking a Pastoral Support & Inclusion Officer to join a supportive and friendly team committed to working with teachers and support staff to enable pupils to meet their academic and social capabilities at St John Fisher RC Primary School. You will engage positively with pupils, parents, and staff embedding the school values, and attitudes to promote high standards of achievement and behaviour.- You will improve standards of achievement by the early removal of barriers to learning within a caring, supportive and safe environment. You will work under the guidance of our Senior Leadership Team to deliver effective support to individual and groups of pupils.- St John Fisher RC Primary School is on a journey to outstanding and needs people who bring something magical to our team. We are part of a thriving Catholic Community and have happy, enthusiastic children, a dedicated staff and supportive Governors.- The role involves dealing with safeguarding concerns, making appropriate referrals and gaining support from external agencies when our families need it.- If you are passionate about providing young people with a safe, supportive environment in which to ensure their success, we want to hear from you.-
- Coordinating and leading meetings with other professionals (including leading Early Help Assessments and Team Around the Family)
- Provide updates to class teachers and the leadership team
- Work with pupils and family members on a 1-1 basis to support their individual needs (such as mental health, protective behaviours, parenting)
- Lead on safeguarding concerns and administer the school safeguarding policy
- Identify pupils who are struggling with learning, emotional problems, or situations at home and signpost them to the resources or support team they need
- In liaison with the school office implement strategies to promote good attendance and support with attendance review meetings for our most challenging families- Have experience of working with young people in a school or similar setting
- Uphold standards around attendance, behaviour and progress so that each pupil can be their best self
- Provide support to pupils to acquire effective habits to be successful at school and beyond
- Promote positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour
- Assist in supporting the welfare and wellbeing of pupils
- Work with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, equity, honesty, personal accountability and in the strictest confidence
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to relate well to children
- Be committed to working as part of a team who are passionate about achieving the very best outcomes for all of our pupils
- Support the Catholic ethos of the school
