Gatehouse Operative

The Gatehouse/Yard operator is responsible for the efficient operation and management of a yard traffic from goods-in to outward bound traffic. The role involves coordination with various teams, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing workflow for maximum efficiency.
- **Key Responsibilities**_

**Traffic Management**:

- Direct vehicular traffic to different packhouse loading/unloading areas to maintain a smooth flow.
- Monitor and report any unsafe conditions, obstructions, or potential hazards in the traffic flow.
- Screening arrivals at the gate.
- Locking premises for the night; checking territory perimeter during the shift, identifying and reporting any issues should they arise.

**Communication**:

- Effectively communicate with drivers, pedestrians, and other traffic control personnel.
- Use hand signals, signs, or radio communication to convey instructions and information.

**Record Keeping**:

- Maintain accurate records of traffic control activities, including the number of vehicles that have been booked and recording data of incoming and outgoing traffic.
- Complete incident reports and documentation as required.
- Understand company’s working systems.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Knowledge of additional language is an advantage.
- Previous experience in similar role is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the need to communicate effectively with different nationalities.
- Quick decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Be polite and helpful.
- Understanding of and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Good attention to detail required.

**Working hours**:
Night shift 4 on 4 off - 12-hour shifts - 19:00 - 07:00

Possible overtime

Flexibility and own transport required due to location.
