London, United Kingdom Ealing Council Full time

Job description

**“Ealing is changing. As a place and as a council. We have a plan and we’re clear about where we need to get to. What can you do to help us?’’**

**Council leader Peter Mason**

Ealing is a richly diverse borough in west London, with the third most ethnically diverse local population in the UK.

We are home to the globally iconic Ealing Studios, the technically advanced film production complex in Garden Studios, along with a burgeoning hive of associated creative businesses.

The Ealing Summer Festivals programme brings comedy, blues, jazz, and much more. Our borough’s eclectic south Asian restaurants, shops and bars are renowned.

And we are also one of London’s best-connected boroughs with the Elizabeth Line, national rail services and three Underground lines.

**Making change**

Our borough is amazing, but we know it can change for the better. That is why the council, and its partners are working so hard to bring good, well-paid jobs back to the borough; are taking real climate action; and are relentlessly striving to tackle the inequalities that hold people back from achieving their aspirations. These are our priorities.

Meeting our ambitions calls for a new culture. To change our bit of west London for the better, the council must change too.

We want a new relationship with the people of the borough, to unlock the potential and the creativity of our communities and our towns. To connect and collaborate with people and to enable communities. To push power into the hands of people who seldom have it.

**That is why we need you**

With this in mind, Ealing Council’s communications team is undergoing some exciting changes. We are looking for people to help us lead this change.

We’re looking for 2 Communications and Campaigns Officers who are passionate about their work and have a track record in delivering high quality and truly engaging campaign content. This is a unique opportunity to help present and influence the council’s voice and presence through content tailored to a variety of channels and audiences to support the delivery of Ealing Council’s Council Plan.

One role is to support the council’s active travel programme following an unprecedented investment of £28million, and the other is to help promote the decent living incomes agenda - publicising jobs, learning, and skills opportunities and achievements, and informing residents about the council’s exciting economic regen plans.

You will be excited about using insight to inform your work, and relentlessly pursue new and innovative formats that drive results. You don’t just care about producing the content, you care about where it will be published and how it performs too.

You will also pride yourself on building long term relationships as much as on your ability to produce impactful work. Because the human touch is central to the ethos of our new team. Your clients will range right across the diverse strands of the council’s work - from social care to climate action, and much more besides.

Above all, your work will help us to improve how we engage with our key audiences - especially our residents. No two days will likely be the same and you will have incredible creative autonomy.

There is a real sense of the new. And of being in at the start of an exciting time for the communications team. A team that is invested in Ealing, supports one another and is eager to think and work differently.

For a full breakdown of the role and its responsibilities, please view the role profile and person specification.

They are both 1-year, fixed-term positions.

Ealing Council recognises and values the diversity of all people and communities in the borough and in our staff.

True equality is more than simply identifying the different communities that are represented in Ealing. It is about ensuring we understand the needs of our staff and residents from a range of diverse backgrounds and that we continually strive to operate inclusive practices.
