**Laboratory Technician - Physics**

Location: Reading/ Basingstoke area

**Salary**: £25,850 - £32,000 (Salary dependent on relevant skills and experience)

The ASP accelerator is a unique facility for generating fusion-neutrons in support of AWE's mission, and you would be part of a team working to run, calibrate and design instruments for it. A major project to enhance AWE's neutron generating capability isunderway and your work would help it succeed and shape its direction. Working within our Technology Development Group, you'll have the opportunity to work with senior Physicists to run experiments to test devices and build upon your skills and experience gainedin a laboratory environment.

Additional responsibilities include:

- Setting up diagnostic configurations for experiments
- Helping to develop work instructions and safe systems of work
- Undertaking lab management including conducting Risk and COSHH assessments, and writing operating instructions
- Housekeeping of the lab, ensuring that the environment and equipment is clean and well maintained
- Helping to develop and maintain diagnostics
- Working in collaboration with senior physicists to evaluate, interpret and report data for routine analysis
- Working with hazardous materials
- Working with electronic devices
- General understanding of physics
- Good laboratory practices
- Problem solving and troubleshooting
