Huddersfield, United Kingdom Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are excited to share an opportunity to join our team of elderly care consultants here at CHFT. A unique opportunity has arisen for a geriatrician to support our new and developing Virtual Ward frailty service as well as supporting acute frailty services in line with Trust reconfiguration.

Our elderly care services have recently been developed to bring our specialty teams together and improve the care of patients in our local community. We have recently invested over £2.5m in our elderly care and acute frailty service to increase the number of consultants, specialist nurses and therapists to support the assessment and management of older frail people.

Our services are currently evolving, and by joining us at this exciting time it will give you the unique opportunity to lead the development of new services across hospital and community settings.

The role of the Geriatricians at CHFT includes a varied timetable of Ward Rounds (a mixture of Care of the Elderly base wards and Acute Frailty Unit), sub-specialty work, FSDEC sessions, Outpatient clinics and support to the rapidly developing Virtual Frailty Service.

If you want to join a supportive and friendly team providing compassionate care, then come and join us to help us achieve ‘outstanding’ in the next CQC inspection. We are nestled in the heart of the stunning Pennine hills; the area which inspired the works of the Bronte sisters. We’re conveniently located close to Manchester and Leeds, and surrounded by breathtaking scenery, places to visit and things to do. With an affordable housing market and fantastic schools CHFT is perfect for family life as well as professional development.

Our Future Plans

The Department of Health and Social Care has awarded capital funding to invest in local health services at both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. This is a significant investment and an opportunity to enhance services for our populations in Calderdale and Huddersfield and West Yorkshire for generations to come.
