Hexham, United Kingdom UKCIL Full time

**We are looking for a committed individual to provide 1:1 support to a young woman who lives in the Allendale area. The support is to enable her main carers to have a break whilst also promoting her independence and allowing her to access appropriate activities in the community.

The young woman has retts syndrome, a neurodevelopment disorder. As a result, she is nonverbal but uses a range of communication methods including eye pointing, pecs and verbalisations to express her emotions/needs. She has hyper mobility, is mobile with some support, however, she does make use of a wheelchair for longer activities. The client requires support with all aspects of her care including personal care and toileting.

The ideal applicant will:

- Be experienced in supporting individuals with additional needs (formal or informal experience)
- Be confident to form relationships and be able to read emotions from an individual's face
- Be physically able to support with mobility and manage the wheelchair
- Be female due to the personal care needs involved in the role
- Be aged over 21 as a mobility car is being sourced and this is for insurance purposes

The young woman has a great sense of humour and is very sociable with people she has formed a relationship with. She enjoys social groups with female friends, going out to lunch and being out and about in general. She enjoys watching television preferring cooking programmes. Somebody who enjoys similar things and is willing to engage with these activities would be preferred.

The client
**sometimes **has varying moods, and this can lead to her frustrations being shown in the form of challenging behaviour. Full support will be provided by family on how best to deal with this.

A driver is essential due to the location of the client and the family are looking to source a mobility car in the future so somebody willing to drive this would be desired. In the interim somebody willing to use their ow care would be desirable.
