Bevan Medical Group is looking to welcome a motivated, enthusiastic receptionist into our team.

You will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, in person and over the phone.

You will assist patients to access the most appropriate service and healthcare professionals, suitable for their needs, in a courteous, efficient manner.

The main duties of our receptionists include:

- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.
- Process requests for appointments, prescriptions, test results and other general enquiries.
- Signposting patients to the correct service.
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Registering new patients.
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records
- Input data into patient's healthcare records as necessary.
- Monitor and maintain the reception area.
- Support clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.

This list is not exhaustive, and on occasion, there may be a requirement to carry out other tasks.

**Learning and Development**

The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment, such training to include:

- Participation in an annual individual performance review (appraisal).
- Completion of mandatory training and other training as deemed necessary for the role by management.

**Essential criteria**

You should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent. Previous experience of working with the general public, providing good customer service. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Clear, polite phone manner. Good IT skills (although training for clinical system to be provided). Able to work as part of a team and autonomously. Effective time management. Flexible and cooperative. Motivated and enthusiastic. Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations. Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.

**Desirable criteria**

Previous experience of working in an administrative setting and dealing with associated tasks. Experience of working in a healthcare setting.

Bevan Medical Group covers a geographical area from Shotton Colliery to Easington Colliery. We are committed to providing excellent patient care to around 8,000 patients.
