Internal Auditor

The purpose of this role is to implement and lead an internal audit programme for the Group to ensure accurate and effective financial reporting, assessing business process controls and compliance to internal and/or external policies, procedures, standards and regulations. Identify areas for improvement and work in partnership with the business teams to agree and implement agreed actions.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Audit Programme: Implement and manage an internal audit programme for the Group in line with the financial year and external audit timeframes. This will involve ensuring risk and materiality-based coverage of Group businesses and key cross Group processes, ensuring coverage of all business units annually. An on-site presence and a forensic level of review will be required
- Financial Report Accuracy: Review the monthly management accounts to both inform the audit programme and to proactively identify gaps, inaccuracies, or issues for further analysis. This involves working closely with Group Finance, relevant Finance Business Partners, and business leaders.
- Policy and Process Adherence: The Internal Auditor will work with the Executive, Group Finance and relevant business leaders to ensure key business and financial processes are well documented, embedded in the business units and adhered to at all times.
- Board Report: On a monthly basis will produce a report for the Board on Internal Audit programme activity, with a more detailed quarterly report. This will include new audits and any identified risks and updates on previously identified issues and resolution.
- There may also be ad-hoc reports to prepare for the Audit Committee as part of the Boards governance programme.
- External Legislation and Standards: The Internal Auditor will work with Finance and the business to ensure evolving legislation, standards and other external requirements are being incorporated into the Group financial accounting and reporting.
Person Profile (Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience):
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (Finance, Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies etc)
- Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with in-depth knowledge of GAAP
- Strong professional external audit knowledge and experience
- Previous internal audit experience desirable but not essential
- Good organisation
- An excellent eye for detail and ability to scrutinize data
- High levels of integrity and ethical standards
- The ability to think objectively
- High emotional intelligence
- Good verbal and written communications
- The ability to form good relationships
