**Trainee Mining Operative - Hartham Park**

Hartham Park Bath Stone is part of Lovell Stone Group, a growing, well-established family-run business which owns and operates six quarries across the South West. We are passionate about the quarrying and processing of premium British Stone products and have an opportunity for a Trainee mining operative to join the team at Hartham Park. Hartham Park is one of the oldest operational Bath Stone mines and our stone is used across the UK, from classically designed country houses to contemporary offices.

**Job description**

We are looking to appoint a trainee mining operative to cover multiple roles at Hartham Park. You will initially start in the yard, above ground, supporting the team to facilitate the stock management and quality control of Bath Stone block and deliveries and collections on-site. This will also include basic maintenance of plant and machinery.

As you progress with your training, you will have the opportunity to work with the team underground, providing support with block extraction and learning the operation of key machinery, from excavators, drill rigs to 16 tonne chainsaw cutting machinery, used in our Bath Stone mine.

Your training induction will cover safe operations of working in the mining environment. You will become familiar with our standard operating procedures for the work above and below ground.

This trainee position will suit someone who is keen to learn and progress. You will be a good communicator and listener with excellent attention to detail. The nature of our operations can be fast paced, and at times, physically demanding. We are looking for someone who is reliable, punctual and can work independently as well as part of a team. You will be supported by your colleagues who have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

We will also offer wider training opportunities as you develop your role and build your knowledge; from external mobile plant tickets to first aid responsibilities and mines rescue training.

Key skills/experience:

- Minerals & extractives/mining/construction/agricultural experience would be beneficial
- Excellent communication & listening skills
- Forklift tickets beneficial
- Good time keeping and reliability
- Experience of operating plant machinery

The package:

- Starting salary, £27-£29k per annum, which will be reviewed as your training progresses
- Production bonus (once training programme completed)
- Monday to Friday - no shift or weekend work
- Overtime maybe available
- Opportunity to receive supplemental pay for additional responsibilities, e.g mines rescue qualification/first aid training
- 22 days holiday increasing based on length of service plus statutory bank holidays
