Floristry at Skibo
- It’s the little touches and the impeccable attention to detail that makes a stay at Skibo so special. Floral arrangements - from pretty posies of homegrown flowers on the breakfast table to majestic displays of exotic blooms in the Great Hall - are an integral part of that.
- As well as the everyday floral arrangements bringing a smile to our members faces, we also go the extra mile for seasonal events and special occasions at the Club.

About the role
- We are seeking a florist to join the Skibo family on a full-time basis. You will be responsible for the daily operation of floristry at the Club, with your efforts contributing to the ambience that makes Skibo unique.
- You are creative and innovative, able to work in a variety of styles from classic to contemporary, and with a passion for luxury floristry you keep yourself abreast of the latest trends in the industry.
- As well as creating and maintaining the flower and foliage arrangements throughout the castle and estate, you’ll work closely with our Events team to create bespoke displays and centrepieces for events in the Club calendar like Easter and Christmas, as well as member celebrations like birthdays and weddings.
- The ability to work seamlessly with others is key to bringing the magic to Skibo’s Great Hall and beyond. You’ll build a strong rapport with our members, and do everything you can to exceed their expectations. Your knowledge and support will inspire your colleagues, and you’ll help to develop their talents through training in basic floral arrangement. Additionally, you’ll develop strong relationships with suppliers.
- You will have responsibility for the departmental budget, and will manage this effectively through efficient and organised ordering and payment processing. You will also facilitate monthly stock takes.
- You have an understanding of the unique demands of hospitality, and are able to work to deadlines.
- The Club is focussed on sustainability, so as well as using flowers from specialist suppliers you will incorporate our own home-grown blooms from the castle’s historic gardens as the season permits.

Who we are looking for
- You have a creative flair, with experience in floristry and a knowledge of table art.
- You’re enthusiastic and show initiative, able to work both independently and with others.
- You have excellent communication skills, and are confident in training other team members in basic flower arrangement where appropriate.
- Ideally, you will have a good competency with computer skills in particular Microsoft Word and Excel.

About Gratuities and Service Charge
- Gratuities (tips) and service charge (an additional charge added to room rates and other services at the Club that is passed directly to staff) are paid to all employees on a pro-rata basis regardless of their role.
- It is estimated that in 2023, full-time staff can expect to receive around £4,000 in addition to their annual salary.
