Are you an aspiring Assistant Psychologist?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist working in North Cumbria. This post is based in acute inpatients in the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

As part of psychology, you will have the opportunity to work with MDT colleagues and other agencies, to support the psychological wellbeing of service users and their families/carers living in Cumbria. We offer psychological consultation, psychological assessments, and a range of direct and indirect psychological interventions. We also provide teaching and training to colleagues. There will be opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical work, working within an MDT.

The role is a 12-month fixed term contract which is ideal for gaining experience in the adult mental health field of psychology. Key aspects of the role will be supporting the process of assessment, formulation and intervention with individuals experiencing complex mental health issues. This may include individual or group-based work alongside the multidisciplinary team, as well as supporting multidisciplinary staff with their psychological understanding of service users and assisting in psychological assessments and interventions. There may also be opportunities for supporting audits or other service development projects within the teams.

Applicants must have an honours degree at 2.1 level in Psychology or equivalent, recognised by the British Psychological Society for graduate membership.
