My client, a South East London Local Authority, seek a Teacher (SpLD) to start this ongoing temp booking asap.
Main Purpose of Job:
To write diagnostic reports using appropriate tests and assessments to identify pupils with a Specific Learning Difficulty - Dyslexia and make relevant and appropriate recommendations for intervention and meeting needs.
To support schools in identifying and meeting the needs of pupils with a range of SpLD’s - dyslexia and dyscalculia
To contribute to the development of effective dyslexia-friendly approaches and practices across schools in terms of structured, cumulative, multi-sensory literacy teaching.
To provide advice on differentiation, resources, assistive technology, strategies and interventions that will support dyslexic pupils in their learning.
To provide training for schools relating to dyslexic or dyscalculic learners. To provide training which covers all aspects of literacy, reading, writing, spelling, and assistive technology
Occasionally be able to carry out brief focused direct work with pupils who have severe dyslexic difficulties, and advise school staff, parent(s)/carer(s) and the local authority about their learning.
To complete statutory advice for Education, Health and Care Assessments as required.
To be able to work across all settings - mainly primary schools, some secondary schools, and very occasionally further education or special schools.
Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties:
Personal Duties
To carry out appropriate tests and assessments to identify CYP who may have dyslexia or dyscalculia and to report the findings in a detailed report for schools and parent/carers.
To carry out training, consultation and direct work with teachers, classroom assistants, pupils and parent(s)/carer(s) in relation to the needs of pupils with a Specific Learning Difficulty. To support pupils’ entitlement to a broad and balanced educationalexperience with access to the National Curriculum. To ensure that pupils reach their potential and are successful learners during their time at school or college.
To support schools in meeting the needs of pupils with specific learning difficulties in mainstream settings through training and modelling of good practice.
To complete referrals received by the STEPS Service and allocated by the Lead Teacher in the SpLD Team.

Flexible day rate dependant on experience
Up to £350 per day LTD umbrella
