Key Responsibilities:
As an HGV Driver at GCU, you will play a vital role in our day-to-day operations. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Transporting aggregates, materials, plant, and equipment to and from sites.
- Providing essential support to on-site staff by couriering and collecting aggregates, materials, and signs, as well as clearing sites.
- Safely removing spoil and waste materials and disposing of them as instructed.
- Collaborating with planning/management and on-site teams to ensure seamless task completion.
- Skilfully negotiating and manoeuvring your vehicle within tight utility sites in busy public areas.
- Completing assigned work and maintaining accurate work records within specified timeframes and to high safety and quality standards.
- Operating in a professional manner, adhering to sector-specific procedures, regulations, and current legislation.
- Operating plant and equipment effectively and responsibly.
- Ensuring the security of the vehicle, plant, and equipment.
- Conducting daily operational and maintenance checks on your vehicle.
- Being prepared to perform other reasonable duties as required by the company.
Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and qualifications:
- Proven experience as an HGV driver, demonstrating a strong track record of safe and efficient driving.
- Possession of a relevant driving license.
- Experience working on-site in a Utilities/telecommunications environment, displaying knowledge of industry-specific practices.
- Familiarity with operating a Grab or a Hotbox would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Chapter 8 regulations for traffic management in highway works.
- Holding an NRSWA Operative ticket is desirable, showcasing your commitment to safety and compliance.

**Experience**:
- HGV Driving: 4 years (preferred)
- Grab Truck driving: 1 year (preferred)
- Hot Box Driving: 1 year (preferred)
- Utilities / Construction: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driver CPC (preferred)
- HGV Licence (preferred)

- United Kingdom (required)
