Laser Packer

Our client is currently seeking a Laser Packer to join their **Production Lasers Department** in **Atherstone, Warwickshire.**

**Hours/Shift Patterns**

The successful applicants will be on one of the three crews (Purple, blue or green). The team rotates through each shift through a three week period. Essentially the shifts are:

- Mon/Tue/Wed night - 12hrs, 18:00-06:00,
- Mon/Tue day & Thu/Fri night - 12hrs, 06:00-18:00 then 18:00-06:00
- Wed/Thu/Fri day - 12hrs, 06:00-18:00

Hours per week - they average a minimum of 40hrs a week. 2 x weeks at 36hrs, 1 x week at 48hrs. However they will be available to be "stood up" to work extra shifts to cover holidays or other absence gaps on the other shifts.

**Key Job Responsibilities**

START OF SHIFT
- Attend and contribute to Tier 1 - cell brief
- Make machine ready to run
- Check correct packaging matches product and order
- Calibrate Scales
- Quality - check product alignment, correct conversion, material and grade

EVERY HOUR
- Calibrate Scales in line instruction sheet; complete more frequently if required
- Check product against templates to ensure correct size, shape & holes in correct place

THROUGHOUT SHIFT
- Quality - complete 1st & last pallet/order checks, sign of sheet & sticker
- Quality - Ensure the product meets the quality standards
- Assist operator when required
- Quality - complete visual checks
- Quality checks - complete EVERYTIME new jumbo loaded, check correct size, shape & holes
- Undertake housekeeping roles
- Pack all finished goods in accordance with standards
- Clean machines, report any damage found
- Complete required machine clean at specified intervals

BREAKS
- All machines are continuous running, so ALL breaks need to be covered.

END OF SHIFT
- Clean machine
- Tidy packing station and area around machine including inside bottom of machine
- Hand over any relevant information to incoming shift

GENERAL
- Work fully in accordance with all local area and plant safety rules, risk assessments and HazCards including correct PPE / RPE etc. as required when performing duties
- Communicate proactively with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with mínimal wasted time and materials
- To participate in improvement or problem-solving teams
- Communicate the results of assigned tasks through lead hands.

**Knowledge and Skills**

The applicant will have the following Essential Skills
- Good basic understanding of PC software and able to interpret, record and report information accurately
- Good knowledge of working and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, changing environment, follow standard work in a continuous improvement environment
- Ability to follow process and product standards and technical instructions to allow for product and process experimentation including noting results where required
- Must be able to liaise with support teams to help problem solve product, process and machine issues.
- Good attention to detail
- Be able to work as part of a team; we are looking for a confident individual with good communication skills and good attention to detail
- Possess good physical stamina, ability to climb steps and undertake manual handling activities
- Ability to maintain concentration levels during routine activities
- Good levels of hygiene
- Able to multitask as required
- Good time keeping and ability to be flexible and work shifts including weekends where required

The following skills are Desirable
- A working knowledge of SAP
