Lighting TDs are responsible for the final 3D scene assembly, lighting and rendering of elements required to complete visual effects shots for high-end photo-realistic VFX films, TV and commercials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- CG scene assembly
- Lighting shots as briefed by the Supervisor
- Creating efficient rendering setups in order to optimise render farm usage
- Create simple tools to improve workflows
- Creating lighting setups and/or working with current setups
- Develop new lighting techniques and workflows.
- Meet delivery deadlines under production constraints
- Work closely with Supervisors to develop tools and workflows associated with lighting and look development

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

- Excellent Maya/Katana skills and solid understanding of rendering with Arnold
- A strong knowledge of lighting techniques in a visual effects environment
- A thorough understanding of the visual effects pipeline
- Basic knowledge of Compositing in Nuke
- A good understanding of color-space
- Basic knowledge of physically plausible shading techniques
- Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills
- Superb problem-solving skills and ability to take the initiative and offer ideas and suggestions
- Ability to work with competency and enthusiasm with mínimal supervision
- Excellent listening and communication skills, and the ability to receive direction and criticism
- Excellent presentation/communication skills in dailies/reviews by clearly and briefly outlining what has been accomplished and what next should be addressed in the shot
- Demonstrates an excellent aesthetic eye, anticipating potential problems
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

- Life drawing or organic modeling
- Knowledge of Mari, Substance, Mudbox and/or Zbrush
- Knowledge of modelling and texturing
- Knowledge and experience in Compositing and Nuke
- Knowledge and experience in other render packages
- Experience working with effects elements and volume rendering
- Basic knowledge of Python and/or Mel scripting
