**CPL are currently recruiting a Library Assistant Homecall Driver as part of a nation
- wide public body contract.**

**Salary £12.52 per/hr**

**Location - Coleraine**

**Hours - 21 p/w**

**Mon 9.00-17:00 7hrs**
**Tue 9.00-17:00 7hrs**
**Wed 9.00-17:00 7hrs**
**21hrs with 60 min break**

**This a temporary role until 30th June 2024**

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

**Core services to customers/clients**

Under the direction of the appropriate Line Manager:
1. Assist clients to make best use of services and facilities through;
a. selecting stock for homecall clients and delivering this to their home,

b. Handling client enquiries using print and electronic resources (e.g. Books, Virtual, Library Service and the Internet),

c. Helping clients to select and use library resources and facilities (including e-resources),

d. Introducing and explaining relevant library services, rules and regulations to new and existing clients,

e. Maintaining client databases,

f. Processing requests.

2. Assist with the smooth delivery of the service through;
a. Shelving, filing and routine maintenance of materials,

b. Preparation of materials and collections for use by customers,

c. Operating the Library Management System,

d. Carrying out the routine procedures associated with the request system including inter-library loans,

e. Organising the delivery of stock to libraries, homes and individuals.

3. Play an active role within the team in ensuring that all services are provided to consistently high standards and comply with current library policy, procedures and priorities.

4. Participate in support and outreach activities as required.

5. Assist with the collation of statistics and maintenance of appropriate records.

6. Assist in the day to day routine procedures and the delivery of client focussed library services in the areas of learning, information, leisure and culture to include;
a. shelving tidying, maintaining books and other resources,

b. circulation, e.g. issue, discharge and renewal procedures for all resources,

c. operation of information communication technology relevant to the post.

7. Provide the first response to comments and complaints from the public within the guidelines of the Library services complaint procedure.

8. Record off-air broadcasting and talking newspapers where appropriate.

9. Drive library vehicles according to agreed schedules and standards.

**Staff Development**

1. Attend and participate in training and staff development programmes in compliance with the Libraries NI Staff Development Policy, including Staff Appraisal.

2. Co-operate as required in the introduction, development and operation of any Information Communications Technology relevant to the grade.

3. Keep abreast of initiatives and developments within the library service.

4. Contribute to the delivery of training on routine aspects of the service.

**Vehicles**

Under the direction of the line manager:
1. Assist with the maintenance of an orderly, safe and welcoming environment for clients and colleagues in accordance with Libraries NI Health and Safety policy.

2. To be fully compliant with all legislative requirements, including NI Domestic Drivers’ Hours Regulations, use of tachographs and Road Safety legislation.

3. Assist the line manager in ensuring that all equipment, including vehicles, is handled with care, maintained according to Libraries NI policy, properly secured and that the inventory is accurate and up to date.

4. To be responsible for carrying out the Daily Vehicle Checks e.g. oil, water and fuel levels, tyre pressure etc., and completion of the Daily Check Book.

5. To be responsible for the safe custody**, **including overnight parking**, **of the vehicle and spares equipment belonging to it, and to secure any property carried or stored in it.

6. To ensure that the vehicle is efficiently maintained and kept clean at all times.

7. Implement Libraries NI policy relating to library charges and financial handling procedures.

8. To complete the daily log sheet showing distances covered, fuel and oil used etc.

9. Ensure the daily, weekly and monthly completion of standard forms/records and routines in accordance with Libraries NI policy.

10. Any other duties relevant to the grade as may be reasonably required by the Chief Executive or his/her designated officer from time to time.
