**Job Purpose**

To control and manage Company transport operations and transport personnel to a standard that satisfies Company quality expectations. To follow the procedures documented or briefed to ensure operations are completed. To adhere to statutory and Company requirements for the Health & Safety of yourself and your co-workers.

To ensure the accurate and timely cross-dock operation on behalf of our Client.

As a key member the Transport Operations Team, you will be responsible for the management of drivers by leading and motivating and to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to.

**What you will deliver (responsibilities include)**:

- Ensure FLM process delivers and contributes to overall operational performance - productivity ,cost and service KPI’s
- Manage the Transport Teams including MHE operations
- Set out daily driver runs and assign drivers to routes
- Ensure overall department KPI’s are met
- Establish, monitor and re-target productivity for Transport teams
- Ensuring that Safe Working Practices are adhered to at all times.
- Ongoing staff management of direct reports; including setting objectives, regular reviews, identifying training needs, handling employment issues and finding suitable resolution.
- Liaise with internal departments promoting good working relations therefore maximising operational and Company performance.
- Provide management cover one week in four to control operational emergencies such as, emergency lifesaving orders, temperature excursions, intruder activations or security breaches.
- In addition to your normal duties you may be required to undertake other duties in line with the needs of the business and flexibility should be recognised as a prerequisite of the role.
- Ensure driver brief/debrief is completed to company quality requirements
- Oversee and organise the training of new starters (including agency)
- To deal with the day to day enquiries and queries or complaints generated by the customer
- Where necessary instigate disciplinary proceedings and conduct informal discussions and investigations in line with company procedure

**Who we are looking for**:

- Proven history of building and managing successful teams
- Articulate, presentable and confident enough to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally.
- Trained in lean operational practices (desirable)
- Computer literate including transport management systems
- Proven track record of business improvements within a Transport operational role
- Must have a solid 3PL logistics background
- Significant experience of managing transport operations within a fast paced environment
- Experience of Transport Management within the Healthcare industry (desirable)
- Innovation, enthusiasm and new ideas essential

Educated to GSCE Level, grades A-C including mathematics.
- Further education to A’ Level standard or equivalent

**Key Knowledge, essential skills and experience needed**:

- Organisation skills with a methodical and logical approach managing tasks and processes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and outgoing to be able to build relationships with colleagues
- Detail Conscious - a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy of information and able to quality check key documents
- Creative thinker with an ability to provide different solutions to people problems.
- Influencing skills - ability to influence managers to follow procedures, take advice and get the best outcomes for the company.

**Job Type**: Permanent

**Salary**: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
