Within GCU, the Glasgow School _for_ Business and Society hosts the Department of Social Sciences. As a school, we seek to develop new critical knowledge about and for wider society and business, informed by our values of social justice, entrepreneurship, global citizenship, and responsible management. Social Sciences is a dynamic and innovative group within the Glasgow School _for_ Business and Society, which is committed to research excellence, public engagement and community empowerment. Among other expertise, it hosts the Scottish Poverty and Inequality Research Unit.

**These fixed-term posts have been created through funds raised as a result of the Scottish Government commissioning the Scottish Poverty and Inequality Research Unit (SPIRU) **to provide analytical support to local authorities, as they develop interventions to tackle child poverty as part of the national commitment to eradicate child poverty in Scotland by 2030.** These posts afford the successful applicants the opportunity to contribute towards the core work and future development of the Scottish Poverty and Inequality Research Unit.**
