**Job Overview**:
The purpose of this role is to support UKRI’s ambitions for global mobility by supporting and leading programmes, strategy and policy development across UKRI and engaging across a range of internal UKRI and external stakeholders. The role will help build the evidence base to understand the impacts and trends of Global Mobility, including through UKRI’s own processes and explore how we innovate our activity to ensure our processes and activities align in supporting UKRI’s vision and the development of a positive UK R&I culture.

**Key Responsibilities**:
You will be responsible for:

- Developing options and advice, sometimes to rapid timescales, that will inform key decision making and support the development of policy.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across UKRI, Government and the R&I sector to ensure a joined-up and effective approach to Global Mobility
- Secretariat support for key initiatives including the Global Talent visa External Advisory Board, including the strategic development of their work and leading on key outputs.
- Programme Management of the UKRI Temporary Worker (Government Authorised Exchange) scheme.
- Supporting the Global Mobility Engagement Manager to improve awareness of the team’s schemes and thinking around UKRI, the R&I sector and relevant government departments.
- Develop tools, programmes and other interventions, including relevant research and innovation policy, to support ongoing improvement in the team’s topic area and sharing of good practice at a national and international level.
- Develop relationships across the R&I community to help UKRI better understand our role as steward of the sector and what that means.
- Support the development of a suite of communication tools to help UKRI to message successfully to the community our ambition and activity in this area
- Support colleagues across RICE and the wider Executive team on matters relating to the team’s topic area
- Contribute to the broader working of UKRI

**Person Specification**:
Essential
- Balance competing priorities and work to deadlines in a fast-paced policy environment, responding positively and often independently to shifting priorities
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Building strong collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Able to address broad strategic questions based on evidence, and support the development of policy options creatively
- Communicate clearly and effectively, providing high-quality written and verbal advice to CEO level
- Experience working independently and leading on specific pieces of work
- Experience delivering and influencing through others, including through engagement with senior staff internally and externally

Desirable
- Understanding of the wider context of the work of the Research and Innovation Culture and Environment team within UKRI
- Good working level knowledge of and interest in global mobility and immigration policy
- Experience of working across multiple government departments
- Management and analysis of large datasets
- Experience of providing secretariat support to external boards
