This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Southampton’s in-house Design and Print Service. The Print Centre serves all internal university departments & students as well as some high profile external organisations.

**About the Role**

The pre-press and digital operator is a key role which supports all areas of the service from pre-press right through production and ending with the finished printed product. The Print Centre offers a full range of services to its clients. Key offerings include: Litho Print, Digital Print, Large Format Print & Signage installations, and you will work across these teams where necessary to support the demands in those areas. The day will be varied and you’ll get the opportunity to work on a wide range of modern equipment and with some great people who have extensive experience and knowledge of the services we provide.

**What you’ll do**

Pre-flight and prepare customers artwork for production on the Print Centre’s various output devices.

Liaise with clients and amend artwork where needed.

Operate and maintain Digital Printing Presses, Large Format and Signage printers and various finishing equipment.

Work with the Production Controller, planning work to achieve customer deadlines.

Assist other teams in the Design and Print Centre as necessary to maintain the flow of production.

**What you’ll bring**

A passion for print.

A keen eye and excellent attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills.

Experience of working in a busy high-pressure print department

Extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, Pitstop Pro and software associated with Printing equipment.

Knowledge of different printing processes and strong problem-solving abilities.
