About the roleTelford College is working with the West Midlands Combined Authority on a new initiative ‘Thrive at College’, this programme is to support mental wellbeing of young people within educational settings.
This role is pivotal to supporting with access to counselling, providing wellbeing interventions for students who require additional support to be successful at college. You will be a point of contact for emergency response to mental health crisis’ and working with key stakeholders to support students.
- Key Responsibilities- Effectively manage and report on a case load of students who require frequent/on-going mental health support in line with best practice
- Make appropriate referrals to external agencies (statutory and charitable/third sector) for medium to longer-term mental health
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding disclosures and concerns which relate to the welfare and well-being of students in a timely manner, including liaising with external agencies

- Skills, knowledge and expertise**Qualifications and training**:
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in Mental Health Support
- Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* - C, or equivalent) in Maths and English
- A passion for continuing personal professional development and willingness to attend further training where required
**Skills and expertise**:
- Will have skills and knowledge of mental health presentations/difficulties with the ability to implement support techniques within an FE setting.
- Detailed understanding of mental health and safeguarding legislation
- Have an approachable demeanour and interpersonal skills
- A team player attitude and attributes to be a good communicator.
