We are seeking to recruit a Behaviour and Safeguarding Leader, passionate about supporting and engaging our students. Working under the direction of an Assistant Principal/DSL, the successful applicant will line manage the pastoral leaders and will provide pastoral care, support and guidance to our students, promoting positive behaviour for learning with a particular focus on key groups. This will include supporting students in improving engagement in lessons enabling them to achieve their full academic potential, to effectively safeguard students and develop strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies. You will develop, plan and implement strategies to address the pastoral needs of students, including child protection needs; organise supervision of, support and oversee the effective running of the Tier 1 room to diminish inappropriate behaviour; be ‘on call’ as required and oversee the rota; liaise with directors of learning and implement action plans for identified students and assist the designated safeguarding lead as one of our deputy DSLs.

The successful applicant will have strong communication skills and will be able to mediate and resolve conflict. You will have the confidence to challenge difficult behaviour in a professional manner. You will have an understanding of social issues affecting children and will support and build relationships with families. You will be willing to undertake DSL training. We actively promote continuing professional development and encourage staff to pursue all enhancement programmes.
