All inpatient treatment takes place at Wythenshawe Hospital. They have a dedicated team who perform specialist surgery for a range of conditions. The staff also hold outreach clinics, ambulant and day surgery, at Christie Hospital, Stepping Hill Hospital Stockport and Macclesfield General Hospital.
They provide a comprehensive service including the diagnosis and management of conditions including: facial injuries, head and neck cancers, salivary gland diseases, facial disproportion, facial skin cancers, facial pain, Temporomandibular joint disorders, impacted teeth, cysts and tumours of the jaws, oral mucosal disorders, and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Performing and analyzing in-patient and outpatient sleep studies
- CPAP issue and follow up (face-to-face and remote clinics).
- Perform, analyze and report all routine investigations within the sleep laboratory, including Respiratory monitoring, and CPAP compliance as required.
- Perform, analyze and report all highly complex procedures including overnight respiratory / polysomnographic sleep studies, multiple sleep latency testing and maintenance of wakefulness testing, actimetry, initiating treatment with CPAP and follow-up of patients on CPAP using agreed protocols.
- Undertake equipment calibration and quality control for all procedures performed within the sleep laboratory
- Perform elementary maintenance of Sleep Service software programs, record keeping systems and recording equipment as required
- Deputize the Chief Clinical Physiologists as required to maintain proper functioning of the Sleep Service.
- Demonstrate effective leadership at all times to other health professionals in the management of patients with sleep disorders.
- Participate in cost awareness and cost control policies in the department.
- Undertake purchasing and stock control of assets and consumable materials.
- Undertake outpatient treatments and occasional domiciliary visits as directed by the Chief Clinical Physiologists.
- Assist the Chief Clinical Physiologists to liaising with departments and individuals to improve and minimize problems experienced by patients.
- To participate in the evaluation of new equipment and maintain performance and monitor technical problems of existing equipment.
- Adhere to the RCCP code of conduct and associated professional body guidelines.
- Knowledge of Somnomedics/Domino or any other diagnostic system for Polysomnography setup and scoring (Essential).
- Noxturnal or any additional diagnostic system for setup/download/scoring of limited channel studies (Essential)
- Airview or similar system for using remote monitoring for review of CPAP treatment (Essential)
- Resupply for CPAP ordering (Desirable)
In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of
- Relevant Qualifications
- Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.
