The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital is one of the Lead centres for neonatal services within Bristol; this tertiary unit provides intensive care for the population of Bristol and beyond. The Unit consists of 31 Cots, 15 Intensive, 8 High Dependency and 8 Special Care. The unit supports 16 cots Transitional Care Ward. The unit provides care for very sick new-born infants with a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions.

We are looking for an experienced ANNP to lead our team of ANNPs. As the lead ANNP you will be expected to supervise, support, develop and expand our team of ANNPs. You will work closely with the unit Matron and Clinical lead to develop our service and to help us delivery our Unit Philosophy and Mission statement.

The lead ANNP post holder will be an experienced, registered Advanced Practitioner. They will work 18.75hrs per week on a 12 months fixed post. They will have evidence of a Master’s level award, or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence. In addition, they will demonstrate experience in team leadership and development. The role will have a heavy non-clinical component and would work well beside a part time ANNP role.

The post holder will provide leadership of the ANNP team to coordinate and when required set the direction for the work of the team. This will include developing job plans for ANNP team members. The post holder will liaise with other clinical teams within the department to ensure that the skills and competencies of the ANNP group are used effectively for development of the service. This will include liaising with wider advanced practice groups within the trust. They will work closely with the neonatal unit Clinical Director, the SoNAR management team and neonatal Matron. They will be involved in recruitment and training of new ANNP team members. They will facilitate communication between the ANNP group and wider neonatal services team. They will take a lead role in management and coordination of education for the ANNP team.
