Main duties of the job

Nottingham Children’s Hospital are looking to recruit a team of six paediatric Trust registrars to an exciting role encompassing urgent and emergency care alongside a unique career development opportunity. The doctors will be part of the experienced general paediatric team and work alongside current paediatric specialty trainees in the department. This post provides an exciting opportunity to increase paediatric urgent and emergency care skills whilst developing an interest in a sub-specialty area of paediatrics or medical education or undertaking a quality improvement project or research.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post-holder will be an experienced paediatric or paediatric emergency medicine doctor (ST3 or equivalent or higher). The post is a joint appointment between the paediatric medicine and emergency medicine departments and acute / on call work will be undertaken in the Children’s Assessment Unit or Paediatric Emergency Department according to need. 50% of the post will be spent undertaking urgent and emergency work, the remaining 50% provides flexibility and the post-holder will have the opportunity to work in a supernumerary position in a sub-specialty area of their choice or undertake a quality improvement or research project (support will be provided with these if required). Consideration will also be given to applicants who wish to utilise some of the flexible 50% to studying for professional exams. Out of hours work will consist of long days (08:30 to 18:30; 11:00 to 23:00 at the weekends) or twilight shifts (18:00 to 02:00). The post does not have any overnight shifts.

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
