The NCA has grown in size and complexity in recent years and it is vital that it maintains a security posture and capabilities to protect against existing, new and emerging threats.

The Integrated Protective Security Command (IPS) is responsible for securing the Agency to protect the public. The IPS mission statement is:
"Delivering integrated protective security to build a resilient, high-trust Agency able to lead the UK’s fight to cut serious and organised crime."

IPS safeguards the NCA from the full range of security threats that target the Agency, our officers and our assets, to enable the organisation to achieve its operational objectives, both domestically and overseas, with flexibility, agility and integrity. Its officers provide specialist security services to the Agency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to mitigate security risks.

**Job description**:
**About the role**:
The NCA’S dedicated STRAP & iCdesk Management Unit (SiMU) works within the NCA’s Integrated Protective Security command.

The purpose of the STRAP & iCdesk Management Unit (SiMU) is to:

- Manage the STRAP Secure Accredited Environments (Enclaves) and ensure that the NCA is compliant with the intelligence handling procedures known as ‘STRAP’ as laid down by the Cabinet Office Security Policy Framework
- Provide advice and guidance to staff of STRAP matters and conduct STRAP briefings
- Provide the Agency with a means to store and exchange caveated SECRET and above and STRAP material to meet the NCA’s business needs
- Deliver access to the government-wide STRAP IT system known as iCdesk including familiarisation sessions to those granted an iCdesk account
- Manage and maintain current and accurate records of those NCA officers who have access to various levels of information including STRAP and iCdesk.

The SiMU team represents the NCA in the further development of the iCdesk system across government and manages its compatibility with relevant NCA systems and our connectivity with other partners through iCdesk.

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior STRAP officer to join our team.

***To be considered, you will need to successfully complete DV clearance before commencing the role and achieve DV STRAP clearance within the first 12 months in post. Applicants must be willing to undergo DV clearance and STRAP induction and be full UK Nationals or Dual Nationals, of whom one component is British may be considered on a case by case basis.**

**Person specification**:
The role of the Senior STRAP Officer is to supervise the implementation and management of STRAP security measures in the NCA to national, accredited standards. They provide professional direction and advice to NCA officers, contractors and visitors to protect NCA and partner operations, assets and capabilities.

**You will**:

- Manage G5 STRAP officers in the SiMU, overseeing their workload, training needs and development, and ensuring appropriate escalation of urgent matters
- Lead on aspects of liaison with key partners across Government, ensuring the NCA is at the forefront of Cabinet Office policy relating to STRAP matters
- Provide a dedicated point of reference within the STRAP environment to assist colleagues of all grades inside and outside the NCA in making effective decisions regarding security, operations and the secure handling of classified intelligence
- Ensure that the NCA retains its external accreditation to handle STRAP material by supporting the G3s in planning and coordinating compliance visits, and managing the procedures and records that support the system;
- Securely transfer intelligence from strategic partners across government
- Work with colleagues in Vetting to deal with the approval, administration and briefing of STRAP and iCdesk applicants;
- Take the lead to investigate and accurately record security incidents or breaches, liaising with the Security Incidents Team and other partners, and making informed recommendations for satisfactory outcomes
- On a rotational basis (normally 1 in 6) provide an On Call response nationally between 19.00 and 07.00.
