As one of its flagship customers, Elysia is working closely with Fortescue to assist with the decarbonisation of their operations.

An opportunity has arisen for a **Technical Specialist - Electrochemical Modelling **to join the Elysia department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.

**Job role**:

- Develop empirical, physics-based and physics-informed Li-ion battery models to predict electrical behaviour and degradation.
- Optimise solution algorithms to ensure models can be run and parameterised as efficiently as possible.
- Support the development of model parameterisation algorithms using lab-based and field data.
- Follow the developments in the commercial adoption of novel cell chemistries, and propose and implement strategies to ensure Elysia’s models remain compatible as the chemistry landscapes shift
- Evaluate and optimise model performance based on cell-in-the-loop validation tests.
- Support the development of battery characterisation test procedures optimised for accurate and rapid electro-thermal-ageing model parameterisation, or robust model validation.
- Support the development of probabilistic regression models to adapt and correct model parameters in test and field data sets.
- Work with product development teams to develop and implement battery performance algorithms for state estimation and control across Elysia’s Embedded and Cloud product streams.

**You’ll have**:

- PhD in a relevant field (Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Control Science or similar) or equivalent experience
- Sufficient years academic or industrial experience in mathematical modelling
- Experience in battery modelling, including reduced order and physics-based models
- Understanding of key degradation processes relevant to batteries
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to think broadly and adopt and/or adapt technology or understanding from other fields to create future business opportunities and communicate their potential to peers.
