**ANALYTICAL TEAM LEADER**

H&T Presspart Blackburn

Overview

You will be responsible for overseeing the analytical work carried out in the IPTC Laboratory using available resources and ensuring work performed to appropriate levels of quality and traceability, and that laboratory equipment is maintained in good working order.

Your key responsibilities:
1. Supervision of all direct reports within the IPTC department, to an appropriate level, including line management of direct reports through regular 1:1 meetings; periodic appraisals, managing employee relations by conducting Return to Work interviews/investigations and arranging cover where necessary.

2. Approval of annual leave requests where appropriate, while ensuring that there is sufficient resource to adhere to work schedules.

3. Reviewing and Approving Study Protocols, Reports, SWIs, ATMs in a timely manner, in line with the IPTC document review procedure

4. Day-to-day planning of workload and prioritising activities of direct reports in coordination with laboratory manager.

5. Coordinating with the analytical team to maintain accurate records and providing peer review for others to ensure analytical results are recorded and reported accurately.

6. Oversee and ensure calibration, installation and upgrade of analytical equipment and instruments.

7. Building and sharing expertise and knowledge of the testing of inhalation devices: Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs) and Dry Powder Inhalers (DPIs)

8. Assisting with troubleshooting related to analytical methods and instruments where required and ensuring that analytical equipment in the IPTC laboratory is maintained correctly.

9. Organising training and development of analysts in the team to adhere to a minimum level of analytical team versatility and flexibility.

10. Maintaining and improving the level of skills required to perform activities to the appropriate standards.

11. Performing the lab manger’s role and duties when they are unavailable and absent.

Education & Training:
12. Should be educated to at least Bachelor’s Degree level in a relevant scientific discipline

13. Should have at least 5-6 years’ experience of working in a pharmaceutical or similar laboratory setting

14. Should have experience of testing inhalation devices.

15. Should have significant experience of analysis using HPLC, including a working knowledge of chromatography software, e.g. Chromeleon or Empower

16. Experience of laboratory documentation software programmes (LIMS) and use of softwares for method development would be an added benefit.

17. Should be able to adapt quickly to changing project needs, assignments and environments

18. Should be able to plan and lead work to timescale and budget using available resources

19. Good communication skills

20. Good interpersonal skills

21. Should have strong analytical capabilities wrt to method development, documentation and validation.

22. Should have a working knowledge of good laboratory practices

23. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office programs

24. Good understanding of health and safety requirements in the workplace
