L3Harris in Tewkesbury and Fleet are part of our ICI division, we work closely with UK Government and Security Agencies primarily in the areas of crypto/cyber security, electronic warfare, counter drone capabilities and situation awareness projects.

**About the role**:
As the Trade & Compliance Specialist you will also be required to provide strategic export controls support to certain assigned programs, primarily focused on the customer support and repairs area of the business where temporary import/export activity is high.

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Develop and implement strategies to minimise the payment of Customs Duty and import tax through utilisation of special customs procedures, free trade agreements and temporary import reliefs.
- Issue customs clearance instructions to 3rd party logistics providers/customs brokers and resolve any compliance and/or clearance issues as necessary.
- Raise relevant Customs/import/export authorisation documentation as required for exhibitions, demonstrations, trials, supplier returns and hand carriages to ensure smooth entry/exit in 3rd countries.
- Ensure the Tariff Classification, Valuation and Origin (Preferential or Non-Preferential) information is accurate and documented for all imports and exports.
- Maintain Customs Compliance information in the Company ERP systems and other record keeping mechanisms.
- Develop and implement KPI’s to measure compliance and effectiveness of the company customs function.
- Assist develop customs compliance awareness stakeholder training materials.
- Serve as the primary Trade Compliance support for Customer Support Programs.
- Provide Trade Compliance approval for Customer Support bids, orders and export requests.
- Provide Trade Compliance awareness training and guidance to the Customer Services Team.
- Prepare, submit and manage UK Government export licences (SIELs) and approvals (F680) to ensure continued coverage for Customer Support business activities. Maintain tracking registers, company ERP system and engage stakeholders accordingly.
- Support US authorization management, as they relate to Customer Support programs.
- Prepare Technology Control Plans to ensure program compliance with the ITAR.
- Support internal and Governmental compliance audits.

**Essential Skills**:

- 5+ years’ experience in a customs compliance role
- Experienced issuing import clearance instructions for CDS
- Expert in customs valuation, rules of origin and tariff classification
- Proven experience managing Inward Processing
- Proven experience of UK/EU Strategic Export Controls.
- Proven experience of US Trade Compliance requirements including the ITAR and EAR.
- Proven experience writing policy and procedure documentation sets.
- Computer literate, with good experience of MS Office tools such as: Excel; Word; PowerPoint; Visio; SharePoint, SPIRE.

**What else could be helpful to be successful in this role**:

- Experience making Customs declarations in CHIEF/CDS
- Working knowledge of Australian Customs procedures and processes
- Experienced in Customs Warehousing
- Experience of Jurisdiction and Classification Analysis
- SAP GTS/Legal Control
- Six Sigma or Lean Accredited
- Knowledge of Electronic Warfare, Encryption, Cyber or Defence Engineering.
- Experience with OCR EASE
- Willingness to travel if required
