This is a new and existing opportunity for a experienced healthcare professional to join the Learning and Development team as a Clinical Skills & Education Lead.

The Clinical Skills & Education Lead will provide strategic and operational leadership in the development, delivery and evaluation of a variety of high quality clinical education programmes aimed at ensuring the Trust’s clinical workforce are suitably skilled and appropriately trained. This primarily includes physical healthcare training programmes for our mental health nurses working within our Forensic and Mental Health Divisions, as well as an array of training for staff within our Community Health Division and Resuscitation training across the Trust.

The Clinical Skills & Education Lead will be a registered healthcare professional with significant clinical experience and the ability to lead and advise a team of Clinical Educators. They will be required to lead the Trust physical healthcare training agenda liaising within Learning and Development, the Trust, as well as other organisations and stakeholders such as the wider healthcare community, service users and carers etc.

The potholder will
- Report to the Head of Learning & Development and will be part of the senior Learning & Development Team. They will line manage a team of both Clinical Educators and the Resuscitation Lead and Resuscitation Officers.
- Lead strategically and operationally our Trustwide clinical training offer.
- Ensure that a programme of physical healthcare training that is aligned to both national guidance and the strategic needs of the Trust is established, delivered and evaluated.
- Contribute to ongoing development of training in partnership with other specialists.
- Will be a member of relevant Physical Healthcare forums within the Trust and is expected to create and maintain positive working relationships with the clinical divisions, directorates and departments throughout the Trust.
- Will build close and trusting relationships with their line reports, as well as other key portfolio leads across the People & Culture Directorate.

Qualifications Academic / Professional

Essential
- Professional Qualification: Registered Clinician with significant clinical experience.
- Have Experience in Physical Health Deterioration, recognition (ABCDE), monitoring (NEWS2) and intervention.

Desirable
- Have achieved or willing to work towards Advanced Life Support Provider status as accredited by the Resuscitation Council (UK

Training

Essential
- Hold a recognised teaching/training qualification.
- Attended an acute illness management course i.e., AIMS, ALERT, RAMPS or IMP or equivalent clinical experience
- Leadership Skills
- Critical Appraisal Skills

Experience

Essential
- Significant experience in recognising physical health deterioration and intervention using Resuscitation Council (UK) recommended tools/approaches
- Experience in delivering physical health care interventions for example Vaccinations and Immunisation; Venepuncture; MUST; ReSPECT or ECG’s
- Proven ability to design, develop, deliver and evaluate training, including e-learning and virtual classrooms
- Experience of creating learning and development opportunities to staff

Knowledge

Essential
- Highly Developed specialist knowledge of physical healthcare training agenda, underpinned by theory and experience to masters' level or equivalent
- Knowledge of educational curriculum development
- Have achieved or willing to work towards Advanced Life Support Provider status as accredited by the Resuscitation Council (UK)
